BURLINGTON, Vt. — It took Vermont forward Craig Puffer 19 games to get his first collegiate goal, and he wasn’t ready to stop at one.
Puffer scored twice in Vermont’s 4-1 win over Colgate on Wednesday. The Catamounts (7-12-2) went 2-0 in the Catamount Cup tournament and won the title for the third time in four seasons.
Anthony Petruzzelli broke a 1-1 tie with a short-handed goal late in the second period for Vermont, which got 20 saves from Packy Munson.
Mike Panowyk scored for Colgate (5-13-1), which got 17 saves from Charlie Finn.
