PRINCETON, N.J. — Brielle Bellerive’s first goal of the season was the deciding factor as No. 5 Clarkson edged No. 8 Princeton 2-1 on Friday night at Hobey Baker Rink.
Amanda Titus opened the scoring at 7:44 of the second period, as Rhyen McGill corralled a shot by Emma Keenan and fed Titus in the slot for a backhander to give Clarkson a 1-0 lead.
Princeton answered back on the power play at 14:03, as Kelsey Koelzer netted her 14th goal of the year set up by Molly Strabley and goalie Kimberly Newell, who earned her first assist of the year.
Bellerive’s goal at 6:43 of the third proved to be the final goal needed, as the Golden Knights’ defense and Shea Tiley held off the Tigers’ offense for the remainder of the game.
Tiley made 17 saves in the victory for Clarkson, improving to 21-3-4 overall. Newell made 30 saves for Princeton.
