BURLINGTON, Vt. — Five River Hawks found the back of the net to propel UMass Lowell to a non-league victory in the opening game of Vermont’s TD Bank Catamount Cup.
UMass Lowell junior Ryan Dmowski broke a 2-2 tie with 1:35 left in the second period and assisted on Kenny Hausinger’s tally 8:11 into the third period that gave the River Hawks a 4-2 lead. John Edwardh, who assisted on teammate Nick Master’s first-period goal, scored an empty-netter with eight seconds remaining.
Harvard junior Ryan Donato opened the game’s scoring 32 seconds in. The forward has recorded a point in every game this season.
Master knotted the score at 1-1 at the 3:45 mark of the opening period.
Chris Hernberg made 24 saves for UMass Lowell (10-8). Michael Lackey made 26 stops for the Crimson (4-6-1).
