Joseph Duszak’s goal at 4:39 of the first period stood the test of time as the visiting Lakers earned a 1-0 shutout victory at Cadet Ice Arena in Colorado Springs.
Duszak’s third of the season came even strength with an assist to Taylor Best. It was the third Laker shot of the game, but it beat goaltender Billy Christopoulos for the only goal of the night.
The Falcons charged back, winning 36 faceoffs and peppering Brandon Wildung for 33 shots compared to Mercyhurst’s 19 shots and 22 faceoff wins. They earned five power play opportunities on the night but couldn’t score. After the second period, Air Force outshot Mercyhurst by a 24-8 margin.
