Mel Melconian’s goal at 3:02 of the third period was all the offense the Sacred Heart Pioneers would need in their win at the Air Force Academy on Friday night. Sparked by the goaltending of senior Brett Magnus,who stopped 35 of 36 Air Force shots and a penalty kill that thwarted all four attempts it faced, the Pioneers managed their second win in a row.
Jackson Barliant opened the scoring at 3:06 of the first frame with assists from Melconian and Alex Bates while Marshall Bowery scored the lone Air Force goal. Billy Christopoulous turned aside 14 of 16 shots he faced on the night in the loss.
