The Cinderella Maine Black Bears found themselves trailing Massachusetts on the road at the midway point of the game. But a second period goal by Rob Michel and a shorthanded game-winner from Credic Lecroix with 5:02 remaining gave Maine a 3-2 victory.
Eduards Tralmaks opened the scoring at 3:43 of the first before UMass grabbed the lead on first-period goals by Austin Plevy and Griff Jeszka.
Maine is now 2-0-2 in its last four since being swept by Northeastern on January 12-13.
