Sami Tavernier’s goal with 1:24 left in overtime propelled Merrimack to a 3-2 win on Saturday at Alfond Arena.
Merrimack never trailed in the game, grabbing leads on goals by Tyler Drevitch in the first and Brett Seney in the second, but Maine had responses to each and forced overtime when Mitchell Fossier scored on a power play with 7:16 remaining in regulation.
Both goaltenders were busy, as Drew Vogler stopped 36 shots to earn the win and Jeremy Swayman made 33 saves taking the loss.
