BOSTON — Jack Suter and Mitchell Chaffee scored two unanswered goals to conclude the game for the Minutemen, who overcame a 3-1 deficit after two periods to salvage a road tie at Agganis Arena. Unbeaten in nine games, BU held a 41-23 shot advantage and got two goals from Shane Bowers, whose 15 on the season are tied for the national lead among freshmen.
The Minutemen jumped ahead on Griff Jeszka’s goal 7:45 into the first period, but Bowers and Bobo Carpenter tallied for the hosts before the first intermission. Freshman Hank Crone assisted on both BU goals in the opening 20 minutes. Bowers gave BU a two-goal cushion 2:02 into the second frame.
For UMass, Mario Ferraro recorded two assists and Matt Murray made 38 saves, including 17 in the first period. Jake Oettinger stopped 20 shots in the BU net.
