DURHAM, N.H. — The Catamounts moved to 5-0-1 in their last six games with a narrow win in the first of a weekend pair of Hockey East games at Whittemore Center. Alex Esposito and Matt O’Donnell scored goals for Vermont, while Matt Alvaro assisted on both and Stefanos Lekkas improved to 9-14-4 with 27 saves.
Esposito scored the game’s first goal 5:21 into the first period on the power play, while O’Donnell’s winner came at 13:27 of the second. Ara Nazarian moved the Wildcats to within a goal with 1:55 remaining in the middle frame. Daniel Tirone made 18 saves for UNH.
