With goals by five different players — three in the third period — No. 6 Ohio State upset No. 1 Notre Dame, 5-1, in the Compton Family Ice Arena. Brendan Kearney and Luke Stork led the Buckeyes with two points each, and both assisted on Matt Joyeaux’s second-period game-winning goal. Sean Romeo made 39 saves in his 15th win of the season, 22 in the second period alone when the Fighting Irish outshot the Buckeyes, 22-10.

Matthew Weis opened the scoring for the Buckeyes at 8:49 in the first, his ninth goal of the season. Ohio State led 2-0 late in the second on the goals by Weis and Joyeaux when Cam Morrison scored Notre Dame’s only goal of the game, a power-play goal at 17:35.

After Kevin Miller and Sam McCormick scored goals just over a minute apart early in the third to give Ohio State a 4-1 lead, Notre Dame’s Cale Morris was relieved in net by Dylan St. Cyr. Kearney had the fifth goal of the game, an empty-netter at 16:21.

With the win, the Buckeyes earned a road split on the weekend, one night after Notre Dame captured the regular-season Big Ten championship with a 2-1 win.
