RIT used three goals on seven shots in the first period, then scored five unanswered goals, to pace past the host Colonials at 84 Lumber Arena on Saturday night.

The teams traded the game’s first goals as part of a wild first period. Timmy Moore and Brady Ferguson both scored to give the Colonials two one-goal leads, but RIT responded each time. Trailing 1-0, Myles Powell scored a short-handed goal to tie things up the first time, and Bryson Traptow potted his second of the season to do it a second time.

Late in the first, Powell lit the lamp a second time, giving RIT a lead it would never surrender. The Tigers pushed the lead to 4-2 in the second, then scored twice more in the third.

Christian Short earned his fourth win of the season as Robert Morris used all three of its goaltenders. Francis Marotte gave up four goals on 12 shots before Andrew Pikul stepped in for 16 saves in the third period. Dyllan Lubbesmeyer finished the game with the final two minutes of play.

The Tigers peppered the Colonials for 34 shots, 18 of which came during the third period.
