{"id":1150,"date":"2000-10-28T15:39:10","date_gmt":"2000-10-28T20:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2000\/10\/28\/denver-squeaks-by-st-cloud-3-1\/"},"modified":"2010-08-23T11:54:25","modified_gmt":"2010-08-23T16:54:25","slug":"denver-squeaks-by-st-cloud-3-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wwwproxy.uscho.com\/recaps\/2000\/10\/28\/denver-squeaks-by-st-cloud-3-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Denver Squeaks By St. Cloud, 3-1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St. Cloud State University (4-1-1, 1-1-0 WCHA) lost its first game of the 2000-01 season with a 3-1 setback against Denver University (1-3-0, 1-1-0 WCHA) in St. Cloud.<\/p>\n<p>The Huskies opened the game&#8217;s scoring at 1:42 of the first as Joe Motzko scored his fourth goal in as three games with an assist from Mark Hartigan and Ryan Malone.  <\/p>\n<p>The Huskies&#8217; lead was short lived as Denver bounced back with the tying goal at 6:03 of the first by Kelly Popadynetz.  Denver etched the game winner at 5:09 of the second period with a tally by David Neale and an assist from Matt Weber.  <\/p>\n<p>St. Cloud pulled its goalie Scott Meyer with :33 left in the game but was unable to convert as DU&#8217;s Kevin Doell scored an empty net goal at the 19:44 mark of the game.<\/p>\n<p>DU outshot the Huskies 35-21 as Meyer gained 32 saves and Adam Berkhoel had 20 for DU.<br \/>\nThe Huskies will continue with a road trip to Colorado College and the Pioneers will host North Dakota.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>St. Cloud State University (4-1-1, 1-1-0 WCHA) lost its first game of the 2000-01 season with a 3-1 setback against Denver University (1-3-0, 1-1-0 WCHA) in St. Cloud.
