The Union Dutchmen got two goals from defenseman Charles Simard in the third period to defeat the visiting Merrimack Warriors, 4-2.<\/p>\n

The Dutchmen are off to a 2-0 start for the first time ever in 10 years of Division I play.<\/p>\n

The Dutchmen came back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to tie the game each time.<\/p>\n

In the first period Anthony Aquino gave the Warriors the lead, but Doug Christiansen knotted it up on the power play for the Dutchmen.<\/p>\n

In the second the Warriors regained the lead on a Nick Parillo goal, but the Dutchmen countered with a goal from Jeff Wilson.<\/p>\n

The third period saw Simard take a rush up the right wing and flip a backhander towards Warrior goaltender Joe Exter. The puck evaded Exter and the Dutchmen had their first lead of the evening. <\/p>\n

Simard added an empty net goal to seal the victory.<\/p>\n

Merrimack (2-3-1, 0-1-0 HE) will play a home and home with Boston University next weekend and the Dutchmen (2-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) will travel to Providence on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
