Cornell’s Ian Burt and Harvard’s Oliver Jonas were the top two stars of the game, as the Red played the Crimson to a 1-1 tie.

Burt stopped 22 of 23 shots, while Jonas turned away 23 of 24 shots. In a game marked by 16 penalties, including one in overtime, it was the prowess of the penalty-killing units for each squad that kept the game a draw. Indeed, both of the goals were five-on-five goals, as Cornell (1-2-1, 1-1-1 ECAC) went 0-for-9 on the power play and Harvard (2-1-1, 2-1-1) 0-for-7 on the man advantage.

Despite all of this defense, both teams managed to put one puck in the net.

For Cornell, that goal came at 3:11 of the second period, as defenseman Mark McRae fed David Francis, who streaked up the right side. Sam Paolini was there for a centering chance, but instead the right winger took the shot from the faceoff circle. Jonas appeared to get some padding on the shot, but not enough as the puck bounced into the net.

Harvard answered that goal at the eight-minute mark of the third period. Derek Nowak found Peter Capouch at the point and Capouch blasted a shot. Francis tried to block the shot, but instead only managed to alter its trajectory. By the time Burt was able to find the puck again, it was in the back of the net.
