Kurt Kamienski’s second period goal helped Connecticut edge past Army, 3-2, on Saturday at Tate Rink in West Point, NY. The Huskies record improves to 4-4-2 overall, 4-1-1 in MAAC play, while Army drops to 4-7-0 overall, 3-4-0 in conference action.<\/p>\n
Ron D’Angelo opened the scoring for UConn with just five minutes gone in the first period on a breakaway from the Army defense. <\/p>\n
Just over four minutes later during a Husky power play opportunity, Matt Herhal deflected in a shot taken by Mike Boylan from the point for Connecticut’s second tally.<\/p>\n
Army had a two goal second period to bring the game back into reach for the Black Knights. Garrett Broughman scored with 1:45 into the stanza with assists from Nic Serre and Tim Fisher.
\nArmy’s Joe Carpenter then capitalized on 3-on-4 situation in the Black Knights favor tying the game at two apiece at the 8:21 mark on a shot from the offensive blue line. <\/p>\n
UConn took the lead for the remainder of the game on Kamienski’s unassisted tally with seven minutes remaining in the period.<\/p>\n
UConn’s Artie Imbriano stopped 22 Army shots, while Scott Hamilton made 17 saves in goal for the Black Knights.<\/p>\n
