After allowing only one goal in its first six games, Middlebury gave up four goals to Wentworth as the Leopards, despite being outshot 58-17, were able to muster up a 4-4 tie with the top-ranked Panthers on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Wentworth opened the scoring just 1:32 into the game when Tim Yakimowsky took a nice feed from Zach Wotherspoon before scoring on a breakaway. <\/p>\n
The Panthers tied the game at the 5:12 mark when Will Chang scored the first goal of his career with a great crossing pass from Adam Foote in the slot. <\/p>\n
The Leopards took a 2-1 lead midway through the period when Yakimowsky scored his second of the game after a failed clearing attempt. Middlebury tied the game early in the second period when Scott Goldman skated to the slot and scored as he was falling to the ice. <\/p>\n
The Panthers took their first lead of the game when Adam Foote’s shot from the side of the net deflected in off the goaltender. <\/p>\n
Wentworth bounced right back to tie the game midway through the period as Alex Marinkovich broke in alone for the goal. <\/p>\n
The teams exchanged goals in the final 6:35 to make it a 4-4 game after two periods. <\/p>\n
Following a third period in which the Panthers outshot the Leopards 15-2, the game headed to overtime. Middlebury had the best chance to score late in the overtime but could not convert.<\/p>\n
Christian Carlsson and Marc Scheuer made 13 saves in goal for Middlebury, while Jamie Vanek and Jeremy Glasgow made 54 saves for Wentworth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
