OMAHA, Neb.<\/b> — Kevin Gravel broke a tie with 3:22 remaining Friday, sending No. 5 St. Cloud State to sole possession of first place in the NCHC with a 5-3 victory over Nebraska-Omaha.<\/p>\n
The Huskies took the lead three times in the first two periods, twice on Joey Benik goals, but the Mavericks responded each time.<\/p>\n
But Gravel’s goal broke a 3-3 tie late in the third period, and the Huskies’ Brooks Bertsch added an empty-net goal in the final seconds.<\/p>\n
Ryan Faragher stopped 31 shots for St. Cloud State (14-5-4, 8-3-2 NCHC). Reed Peters stopped 25 shots for Nebraska-Omaha (9-12-2, 6-5-2).<\/p>\n
