After Cornell’s Cassandra Poudrier was called for tripping Brianne Mahoney in the neutral zone, the Tigers got one last power play. After Big Red goaltender Paula Voorheis made several stops, Lloyd found herself all alone in front with the puck and pushed the puck past the reach of Voorheis for her fifth goal of the season.

Newell improved to 10-10-2 in the win for the Tigers. Voorheis made 30 saves for Cornell.

Cornell opened the scoring at 13:32, as Emily Fulton tallied her 18th of the season on the power play. The Big Red capitalized just seven seconds into the man advantage as Jillian Saulnier won the face off back to Brianne Jenner, and Jenner fed the puck to Fulton in the slot for a snap shot that defected off of a defender and in.

After failing to capitalize on four power plays and killing off two of their own, the Tigers finally broke through Voorheis with 3:28 left in the second period. Cassidy Tucker won a battle for the puck in front of the crease and put home an unassisted goal for her third tally of the year.

Fulton scored again for the Big Red just 1:20 into the third, as a carryover penalty on Kirsten Falck led to another power-play goal for the Big Red. Jenner corralled a Saulnier shot and passed the puck to Fulton at the top of the slot, and Fulton’s shot found just enough room to get over the shoulder and under the crossbar behind Newell to regain the lead.

But the Tigers’ offense fought back to tie the game again 7:07 later, as Molly Contini and Lloyd set up Ali Pankowski at the left point, and Pankowski rifled a shot up top to knot the game 2-2.
