Bowling Green struck first in the first period, but visiting Princeton scored the deciding goal and an insurance goal in the third period for a 4-2 nonconference win over the Falcons in the BGSU Ice Arena, 4-2.<\/p>\n
The Falcons’ special teams showed signs of improvement with two power-play goals while holding Princeton to 0-for-5 on its power-play tries. However, two third-period goals by the Tigers proved to be the difference.<\/p>\n
The Falcons’ special teams netted the first goal of the game when senior Greg Day took a pass from D’Arcy McConvey on the left-side of the crease and shot past Tiger goalie Dave Stathos at 9:42 of the first period. Day’s power-play goal was the first for BGSU in four games and snapped an 0-for-13 stretch. Linemate Scott Hewson was also credited with an assist.<\/p>\n
BGSU went to the locker room with a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period despite being outshot 13-9<\/p>\n
Princeton tied the game at 4:19 of the second period with a goal from Trevor Beaney. The Falcons responded, though, with another power play goal from McConvey at 10:06 to retake the lead. Hewson and Day assisted on the goal. The first line for Bowling Green accounted for all six points.<\/p>\n
Another goal from Princeton at 14:30 in the second period by Matt Maglione knotted the game at 2-2, which held until the third period. Scott Prime gave the visitors the lead for good at 10:44 of the third and David Del Monte added an empty-net goal at 18:49 for the final 4-2 verdict.<\/p>\n
Princeton outshot Bowling Green 33-22 for the game. Falcon goalie Tyler Masters had 29 saves in 59:32 of action while Stathos had 20 saves for the Tigers. Both teams had seven penalties.<\/p>\n
Day extended his current scoring streak to three games (3-2–5). McConvey now has a two-game point streak.<\/p>\n
The Falcons fall to 5-14-4 overall while Princeton moves to 5-11-0. Both teams meet up again Saturday night at BGSU Ice Arena. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
