Meghan Stone scored two goals and had two assists for a four-point night, and Erin Neil scored a goal and had two assists as Middlebury completed its Minnesota trip with its second straight victory, a 6-0 shutout of host Augsburg in a nonconference game Monday evening at the Augsburg Ice Arena.<\/p>\n
Middlebury, the No. 1 team in the nation and two-time AWCHA Division III national champions, dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting Augsburg by a 45-15 margin and scoring on four of its seven power-play attempts.<\/p>\n
Middlebury is now 15-1-1 overall, while Augsburg drops to 7-12-2 overall.<\/p>\n
The Panthers opened the scoring with Stone’s first goal of the game, on a 5-on-3 power play. Middlebury added two more goals in a 4:10 span midway through the period, from Neil and Nico Kieves. Middlebury outshot Augsburg 23-2 in the first period.<\/p>\n
After a scoreless second period, the Panthers erupted with three goals in a 3:16 span, from Rose Babst , Amber Neil and Stone. Lorna Gifis had three assists for the Panthers.<\/p>\n
Kati Madouras picked up her fourth shutout of the season, stopping all 15 shots she faced.<\/p>\n
Katie Fedoryk made 39 saves for the Auggies, the ninth time she has had to made 30 saves or more in her 20 games this season.<\/p>\n
Augsburg takes a break for 10 days before returning to action on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:05 p.m., hosting St. Catherine in the first game of a two-game MIAC series at the Augsburg Ice Arena. The two teams complete the series on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 4:45 p.m. at the Drake Ice Arena in St. Paul, Minn.
