Mercyhurst trailed 1-0 early before scoring five straight goals to defeat American International 5-1 Saturday evening in a MAAC. Mike Carter and Adam Rivers each netted two goals.<\/p>\n
The Lakers remain unbeaten in conference play at 17-0-3 and 18-7-3 overall, while AIC drops its ninth straight and falls to 6-16-0 overall and 5-15-0 in the league.<\/p>\n
Olivier Gagnon gave AIC an early 1-0 lead as he scored a power-play goal at 8:34 of the first period.<\/p>\n
But Rivers would tie the game at one at 16:04 before Carter gave Mercyhurst a two-goal advantage with a two-goal second period. Rivers’ second goal came on a power play just five minutes into the final period before Brad Olsen finished the scoring at 12:45.<\/p>\n
