Brown defeated St. Lawrence 4-3 Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.<\/p>\n

Brown took a 1-0 lead early in the game and the Saints were never able to get ahead of the Bears. Brown took a 4-1 lead halfway through the second period but the Saints crept back in the third, cutting the lead to one.<\/p>\n

Brown showed its defensive strength in the final minutes of the game, holding off St. Lawrence on a 5-on-3 power play to take the win. Sophomore Amy McLaughlin led the Bears with two goals and one assist for three points. The win improves Brown to 8-7-3 on the season and 5-3 in the ECAC.<\/p>\n

Brown got on the board first just four minutes into the game when senior Courtney Johnson netted her eighth goal of the season. Sophomore Jessica Link and freshman Keaton Zucker recorded assists, their 23rd and fifth points of the season, respectively. <\/p>\n

The Saints answered one minute later to tie the game 1-1. Gina Kingsbury recorded her eighth goal of the season with Trisha Powers earning the assist.<\/p>\n

The Bears took a 2-1 lead at the 16:08 mark of the first when junior Kelly Sheridan found an open McLaughlin in front of the net. McLaughlin one-timed it past Saints goalie Rachel Barrie for her fifth goal of the season. Also earning an assist on the play was sophomore Katie Guay.<\/p>\n

Senior goalkeeper Pam Dreyer made several key stops in the period, totaling nine saves as St. Lawrence outshot Brown 10-8.<\/p>\n

Brown took a 3-1 lead at the 7:50 mark when McLaughlin scored her second goal in a row off a hard shot taken from the right faceoff circle. Freshman Lindsey Glennon and senior Cassie Turner picked up assists on the play.<\/p>\n

The Bears took a three-goal lead just 48 seconds later. Zucker picked up her second point of the game and fourth goal of the season at 8:38. Link earned her second assist of the night on the goal while McLaughlin picked up her third point with the second assist.<\/p>\n

St. Lawrence cut Brown’s lead to two before heading to the locker room. Kingsbury scored her second goal of the night with Powers and Laurie Ross earning assists.<\/p>\n

Dreyer once again made several huge saves for the Bears, including a breakaway save with just seconds left in the period for a period total of six.<\/p>\n

The Saints came within one midway through the third. Shannon Smith scored from Chera Marshall, making the score 4-3. The Bears killed off a 5-on-3 power play in the last two minutes of the game to hold off the Saints for the 4-3 win.
