The Executive Committee of Hockey East issued an additional one-game suspension to Boston University coach Jack Parker on Wednesday for his failure to fully comply with a previous suspension issued last weekend.

Parker had been issued the original suspension by Hockey East Commissioner Joe Bertagna on Saturday, February 19, in part for his decision to remove his team from the ice following a disallowed goal in a game versus Providence on February 18.

Parker will now be prohibited from participation of any sort during the Terriers’ next game on Friday night at Northeastern.

Boston University, as with the earlier suspension, has declined an appeal to the full board of athletic directors on the matter.

Providence College Athletic Director John Marinatto, Chair of the Executive Committee, issued the following statement following the committee’s conference call:

“Based on Coach Parker’s comments to the Executive Committee in outlining the circumstances which occurred on Saturday evening — specifically allowing any type of interaction between himself and his assistant coaches to occur — it is our conclusion that, although unintended, Coach Parker did not live up to the intent of the Commissioner’s original suspension.

“Consequently, the Hockey East Executive Committee has decided to levy an additional one-game suspension on Coach Parker.”

The other members of the Hockey East Executive Committee, in addition to Chairman Marinatto, are Bob DeGregorio, Athletic Director at Merrimack College, and Judy Ray, Athletic Director at the University of New Hampshire.
