The Executive Committee for the Atlantic Hockey Association has approved a three-year contract extension for commissioner Bob DeGregorio. The extension runs through the 2006-07 season.

“Bob has done a great job for the members of Atlantic Hockey,” said Canisius athletic director Tim Dillon, chair of the Executive Committee. “He has proven to be an asset to our conference, and has provided us the stability and guidance that we as a league need. We wanted to make sure that Atlantic Hockey would have his services in the near future, and this multi-year contract puts our minds at ease in the ever-changing world of Division-I ice hockey.”

DeGregorio has held the title of commissioner for Atlantic Hockey since the league’s inception on June 30, 2003. His experience as an administrator in college hockey includes serving as the commissioner of Hockey East from 1993-96, while currently serving as the treasurer for Hockey East. The former Director of Athletics at Merrimack for 19 years, DeGregorio oversaw the elevation of the Warriors men’s ice hockey program from Division-II to Division-I status in the 1980’s.

DeGregorio’s committee work includes serving as a director on the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Board of Directors and Chairman of the NE-10 Men’s Basketball Championship and the NE-10 Finance Committees. He also spent a period of time as a member of the NCAA Northeast Region Advisory Committees for both men’s basketball and baseball.
