NBC has announced its 2006 Winter Olympic television schedule featuring live coverage of all preliminary and medal round women’s hockey games.<\/p>\n
The gold medal game will be presented live on NBC, Monday, Feb. 20. All U.S. games prior to the final will be televised on the USA Network. All other games not featuring the U.S. will be televised on CNBC or MSNBC.<\/p>\n
Mike Emrick (play-by-play) will pair with two-time Olympian A.J. Mleczko (Harvard ’99) as the lead team on women’s games, with Pierre McGuire reporting.<\/p>\n
Bill Clement, the former NHL All-Star and “NHL on NBC” host, will host hockey coverage on USA, MSNBC and CNBC, his fourth Olympic broadcast assignment and third for NBC. Long-time U.S. captain Cammi Granato (Providence ’93) will work with Clement for women’s games.<\/p>\n
The U.S. roster features six players with remaining collegiate eligibility, and 10 players who graduated from a U.S. college since the last Olympics. The Canadian roster features four players with remaining collegiate eligibility, and six other alumni of U.S. colleges. Across the two premier Olympic rosters<\/a>, Harvard is the school best represented with six veterans. Minnesota, Brown, and Dartmouth each have five. All of Minnesota’s Olympians play for the U.S.<\/p>\n Minnesota-Duluth leads all schools with nine representatives across six different Olympic rosters. Current UMD freshman forward Michaela Lanzl will be featured on the German Olympic team, and Mari Pehkonen has made the Finnish Olympic team. UMD alumni are featured on the Swedish, Swiss, and Finnish teams.<\/p>\n All times are EST.
