Mass.-Boston will have its third hockey coach in two seasons. Interim head coach John Giuliotti has withdrawn his name from consideration for the permanent position. A search for a new coach is underway.<\/p>\n
Giuliotti took over the reigns from Mike Bertoni, who resigned last December. The Beacons were 0-9-1 at the time and finished 0-23-3.<\/p>\n
“I want to thank the college hockey community for its support over the years, and especially at UMass-Boston,” said Giuliotti, who played his college hockey at North Adams State and was an assistant at Wentworth from 1996-2002. “I want to thank my players, who never quit. They worked hard every game. Success can be measured in many ways, and many of the things I saw make me say we had some success this season even if it didn’t always show in the win-loss column.”<\/p>\n
Giuliotti cited family concerns as well as his love for his current full-time position at North Reading (Mass.) high school as reasons for his decision.<\/p>\n
“We are deeply indebted to Coach Giuliotti for all of his efforts after taking over the UMass-Boston program in mid-season,” said Charlie Titus, Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Recreation. “John guided us through a rough period, a time of transition this past winter and without his efforts it would be much more difficult for us to move forward.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
