{"id":36983,"date":"2011-04-15T20:58:01","date_gmt":"2011-04-16T01:58:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=36983"},"modified":"2011-04-15T20:58:01","modified_gmt":"2011-04-16T01:58:01","slug":"minnesota-duluth-loses-another-faulk-signs-with-carolina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wwwproxy.uscho.com\/2011\/04\/15\/minnesota-duluth-loses-another-faulk-signs-with-carolina\/","title":{"rendered":"Minnesota-Duluth loses another, Faulk signs with Carolina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minnesota-Duluth lost its second player in as many days to the NHL as freshman defenseman Justin Faulk signed with the Carolina Hurricanes Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Faulk will immediately join the Hurricanes&#8217; top minor-league affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, for the Calder Cup playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Justin is a gifted offensive defenseman who excels on the power play and has a big shot from the point,&#8221; said Carolina assistant GM Jason Karmanos in a statement. &#8220;He had a hugely successful year at Duluth and with his strength and build, we feel that he is ready to begin his professional career.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Faulk led all Bulldogs defensemen in goals (8), assists (25) and points (33) in 39 games and tied for sixth among NCAA defensemen, first among freshman blueliners and tied for eighth among all first-year NCAA skaters in scoring (33 points).<\/p>\n<p>Carolina drafted Faulk in the second round (37th overall) in the 2010 NHL draft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minnesota-Duluth lost its second player in as many days to the NHL as freshman defenseman Justin Faulk signed with the Carolina Hurricanes Friday.
