Mike Souza has been named an assistant coach at Brown, getting his first coaching job after playing the last five seasons in Italy.<\/p>\n
“He’s someone that our guys will lean on because he’s played at such a high level,” said Brown head coach Brendan Whittet in a press release. “From my side of it, he’s an unbelievably personable guy; he knows everybody. He’s well-connected in the hockey world. I’m very excited. I don’t think we’re going to miss a beat.”<\/p>\n
A graduate of New Hampshire, Souza was a four-year member of the Wildcats (1996-2000) where he finished with 156 career points in 156 games and was a teammate of Brown associate head coach Mark White.<\/p>\n
Drafted in the third round of the 1997 NHL draft by Chicago, Souza played in the AHL with Norfolk, Bridgeport, Portland and Hershey. He was inducted into the Wakefield (Mass.) High School Hall of Fame in 2009.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
