It seems like a rarity, but it happens.<\/p>\n<p>No Game 3s? Same deal.<\/p>\n<p>Until this season, however, those two things have never happened together since the league went to best-of-three series in 1988.<\/p>\n<p>The five first-round series this weekend combined for no overtimes and no need for Sunday action.<\/p>\n<p>In the first 20 years of best-of-three play, five seasons went without overtime (last in 2005) and four went without a Game 3 (last in 2002).<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think there&#8217;s any big-picture significance in this.
