{"id":65006,"date":"2015-06-11T21:36:18","date_gmt":"2015-06-12T02:36:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=65006"},"modified":"2015-06-11T21:36:18","modified_gmt":"2015-06-12T02:36:18","slug":"desert-hockey-classic-to-be-first-d-i-games-in-arizona-in-more-than-30-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wwwproxy.uscho.com\/2015\/06\/11\/desert-hockey-classic-to-be-first-d-i-games-in-arizona-in-more-than-30-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Desert Hockey Classic to be first D-I games in Arizona in more than 30 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Arizona State will host the Desert Hockey Classic the weekend of Jan. 8, 2016, as Yale, Michigan Tech and Connecticut will travel to Arizona to compete in the four-team tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament will feature the first NCAA Division I hockey games in the state of Arizona since 1985, when Northern Arizona sponsored NCAA hockey.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We couldn&#8217;t be more pleased to expand ASU&#8217;s first home NCAA Division I weekend into the Desert Hockey Classic with three prestigious Division I hockey schools,&#8221; ASU head coach Greg Powers said in a statement. &#8220;To expose Arizona hockey fans to the highest level of college hockey in one weekend is incredibly exciting. This will be a precursor to what Arizona hockey fans can see every home weekend at ASU leading into the future as we have some incredible, big-name opponents committed to traveling to Arizona State in both the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are looking to make this the first of many very successful Desert Hockey Classics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tournament matchups, game times, ticket information and venue information will be released in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arizona State will host the Desert Hockey Classic the weekend of Jan. 8, 2016, as Yale, Michigan Tech and Connecticut will travel to Arizona to compete in the four-team tournament.
