{"id":80252,"date":"2017-11-16T12:01:40","date_gmt":"2017-11-16T18:01:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=80252"},"modified":"2017-11-16T12:01:40","modified_gmt":"2017-11-16T18:01:40","slug":"nomination-period-now-open-for-2018-hockey-humanitarian-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wwwproxy.uscho.com\/2017\/11\/16\/nomination-period-now-open-for-2018-hockey-humanitarian-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Nomination period now open for 2018 Hockey Humanitarian Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/hha.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-80255\" alt=\"hha\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/hha-150x90.png\" width=\"150\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a>The Hockey Humanitarian Award Foundation has announced that the nomination period for the 2017-2018 season is now open and nominations will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 22, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The award is presented annually to college hockey&#8217;s &#8220;finest citizen&#8221; and seeks to recognize college hockey players, male or female, from Divisions I-III, who exhibit outstanding team leadership and contribute to local and\/or global communities in the true humanitarian spirit.<\/p>\n<p>A list of nominees will be announced in January. The award&#8217;s finalists will be announced in Feb. 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since 1996, the foundation has welcomed a wide range of candidates who have led volunteer efforts that help children, the handicapped, the homeless and the disadvantaged, among many other deserving groups,&#8221; reads the announcement. &#8220;These student-athletes reaffirm each year that there are, throughout this and other college sports, young people who deserve notice for their extraordinary service.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The award will be presented at the 2018 Frozen Four in conjunction with the Hobey Baker Memorial Award in St. Paul, Minn., on Friday, April 6, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Nominating materials can be found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/hockeyhumanitarian.org\/nominate\">foundation&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 2017 winner of the award was the St. Michael&#8217;s duo of Danny Divis and Justin McKenzie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Hockey Humanitarian Award Foundation has announced that the nomination period for the 2017-2018 season is now open and nominations will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 22, 2017.
