Hopefully everyone had a great end to 2016, and is having an even better start to 2017.

Jack is on vacation this week, so you’ll have to trust me to make picks on my own.

Let’s get started:

Bemidji State at Bowling Green

This series started on Thursday, I blame this late pick on Jack’s absence. Bemidji opened the series with a win, which I would have picked, and I think they complete the sweep tonight. Beavers 3-1

Northern Michigan at/vs Lake Superior State

It’s rivalry week in the upper peninsula as Northern Michigan and Lake Superior will play back-to-back home-and-home series. If Northern Michigan wants to get back into the playoff hunt these weekends will be their golden opportunity to springboard into a strong 2017. Unfortunately for the Wildcats I don’t see that happening. Lakers 4-2, 3-1

Minnesota State at Alabama Huntsville

Minnesota State is playing for the first time in almost three weeks while Alabama Huntsville is coming off back-to-back overtime losses during the holidays. That could be enough for the Chargers to sneak out a win on Friday night. Chargers 3-2, Mavericks 4-1

Ferris State at Alaska Ancorage

Trips to Alaska are never easy and the Seawolves proved that last week with a win against Bemidji State. Either way expect a low-scoring weekend with a pair of offenses that have struggled recently. Bulldogs 2-1, 1-0

Michigan Tech at Notre Dame

Notre Dame picked Alaska part last week and league-wide the WCHA has struggled in non-conference play. If anyone can reverse that trend, hopefully, it’s Michigan Tech. Huskies 3-2, Fighting Irish 4-3

Hopefully everyone had a great end to 2016, and is having an even better start to 2017.
