1. Minnesota State not only swept No. 2 Boston University, it did it in impressive fashion with 6-3 and 3-0 victories. The Mavericks scored nine goals against one of the most-heralded defensive units in college hockey. It was a big win for the WCHA and it would really be a boost for the Mavericks in a potential at-large bid situation later in the season.<\/p>\n
2. Northern Michigan is off to a nice start in the WCHA with a sweep against Ferris State. Coaches in the WCHA often talk about defensive-minded teams that can shut games down, and that’s what NMU did as they held onto late leads in each game.<\/p>\n
3. Bemidji States and Bowling Green helped raise the non-conference profile by picking up wins against Minnesota-Duluth and Michigan State.
